The World Trade Center Illinois was organized to promote the common interest of
business by forming a trade association consisting of business and
individuals interested
in the enhancement of international trade and investment. The purpose of the Illinois
Africa Trade Institute (IATI) mirrors this mission by creating ties and strengthening
existing relationships between the state of Illinois and Africa. Along with Northwestern
University’s Africa Studies program, the oldest and most reputable institution for
African studies in the country, the foundation of the IATI promotes African nations
which provide the largest potential for international trade partnerships.
IATI resides at the AON center within the WTCI offices and is run by a dedicated
IATI Director, an Advisory Committee, as well as an Honorary Board of Directors,
comprised of business, government and academic leaders. The Committee and the Board
are committed to the focus on trade related issues which ultimately strengthen the
trade and business relationship between African and Illinois firms.
